Subway Cave Located just minutes away is this "lava tube," formed in the Hat Creek lava flow less than 20,000 yeas ago. Explore this ancient cave in the Lassen National Forest at road 44/89 north of the Old Station Visitor Information Center. Enter the "Devil's Doorway" and travel through the many points of interest within the cave that feature unique lava and sand formations. Dress warm, wear sturdy shoes and don't explore alone.
